Joe O’Leary

Biography

Joe O’Leary serves as director of the Oregon Youth Authority, the state juvenile justice agency. He previously served as general counsel and public safety advisor to Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, and is a past counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee. He began his legal career as a public defender and spent several years in private practice. 
O’Leary attended undergrad at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and earned a JD from Lewis & Clark Law School. He is a member of the Portland Parks Advisory Board and a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum of Oregon.
