Biography

Rich Melnick has served the public for over 40 years. After graduating from Northwestern University and Lewis & Clark Law School, Judge Melnick worked as a prosecutor, then as a judge in both the trial and the appellate courts. Judge Melnick has presented educational programs to judges and lawyers on ethics, search and seizure, trial and appellate advocacy, evidence, and constitutional law. He is a former Dean of Washington State’s Judicial College and, as a commissioner on the Washington State Supreme Court’s Gender and Justice Commission, he chaired its education committee. He also served on Washington’s Commission on Judicial conduct.
