2022 Mentor/Mentee Awards

Outstanding Mentee Award recipient Ashley Hollis ’24.

Ashley Hollis ’24 was selected as the Outstanding Mentee Award recipient this year. Her mentor, Elliott Ostrander & Preston attorney Gemma Nelson ’19, nominated her and had this to say:

“Ashley asked meaningful questions, was open to connecting with other lawyers within my network, and demonstrated strong values rooted in both personal growth and community. She is equally invested in uplifting her fellow classmates along their journeys as law students and future lawyers. It was an absolute pleasure being her mentor this year and I look forward to continuing to stay connected with her in the years to come!”

Outstanding Mentor Award recipient Alyssa Sander ’20.

Alyssa Sander ’20, an Animal Law Program fellow at the Animal Legal Defense Fund, was named this year’s Outstanding Mentor Award recipient. Her mentee, Kaiti Bestor ’24, nominated her and had this to say:

“Alyssa went above and beyond to help me through my 1L year. She helped me with everything, from starting school, to note-taking strategies, and even reviewing my resume and cover letters with me. She sent me opportunities to apply for, and when I got my summer position, she was the first person I wanted to share the good news with because I could not have done it without her guidance and support. I am honestly so grateful to have the experience being mentored by Alyssa: she took the role very seriously and it definitely showed.”
