We’ll be pulling ivy, caring for baby trees, and having a grand ole time helping the forest and making friends along the way. Meet us at the Tryon Creek Nature Center by 9 a.m., but we’ll be around earlier with bagels and coffee! Sign up to volunteer here, and fill out this form for bagel headcount.
Film Screening of “Inundation District” + Q&A with Director
SIEL and PILP are excited to co-host a film screening of Inundation District (trailer here!), an award-winning documentary about the effect of climate change on Boston’s “Innovation District.” The film raises awareness about an era of rising seas and strengthening storms, questioning the city’s decision to spend more than $20 billion building a new coastal district on landfill, at sea level. The issues explored in the film are not unique to Boston and affect every coastal town and city in America, making this a key movie for anyone interested in climate change, environmental law, and environmental justice. Excitingly, David Abel, the director of the film and Pulitzer Prize winner, filmmaker, and journalist, will be speaking with us post-screening for a Q&A via Zoom. We will be starting the movie at 5:30 p.m. in the LRC, with pizza and soft drinks provided! RSVP here for an interest (and pizza!) headcount. We hope to see you there!
