President: Bailey Grinter is a 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She graduated from The University of Tennessee Knoxville with a BS in Biology, with a concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Bailey is interested in the intersection between Business Law and Environmental Law, particularly with climate change-related disclosures and regulations. In her free time, Bailey enjoys spending time with her partner and cats, reading a good book, and enjoying all the outdoor activities Portland has to offer.
Treasurer: Katie Thompson is a 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School. After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2021 with a BS in psychological and brain sciences and a BA in political science, she worked on a farm in Oregon and a homestead in Washington. Experiencing the effects of farming firsthand, she became inspired to protect the planet through sustainable agriculture practices. Additionally, she looks forward to the transition to renewable energy in order to better the environment and hopes to aid in this mission. In her free time, Katie likes hunting for Bigfoot, thrifting at the Goodwill bins, hoarding tropical plants, buying fancy detergent off of TikTok shop, and playing with her cats.
Vice President: Miranda Herreid is a 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She majored in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Visual and Cultural Studies at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and received her MA in Eastern Classics at St. John’s College, Santa Fe. Miranda aims to work in advocacy for farmed animal protection. She is interested in studying the global spread of industrial animal agriculture and its specific manifestations in different countries and working towards more equitable food systems worldwide. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her girlfriend (better known as the Treasurer of SIEL) and their two cats (who LOVE chasing frozen peas), and trying out new vegan recipes.
Secretary: Claire Buckley is a 2L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She grew up in Grapevine, Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Political Science and minors in Philosophy and History. Claire is interested in how environmental sustainability in infrastructure and the energy sector will be vital to city planning and land use as society moves forward in addressing climate change. In this pursuit, we should look to international cities for inspiration, examples, and community. In her free time, Claire enjoys travel, anything in nature, good food, meditation, and learning to channel the chaos of her kitten Ember.
Event Planner: Jessica Hall is a 2L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from the University of Utah in 2022 with majors in Environmental Studies and Political Science. She’s interested in environmental law and hopes to work in the public interest sector. In her free time she enjoys all outdoor activities (hiking, running, climbing, skiing, the list goes on), reading, cooking, and hanging out with friends. :)
Outreach Coordinator: Fiona Thayer is a 2L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She grew up in New Hampshire and graduated from Syracuse University with a BA in Geography & Environment, Sustainability and Policy and with a minor in Political Science. Fiona is interested in international marine conservation and pathways to ocean advocacy through law. In her free time, Fiona enjoys scuba diving, yummy vegan food, and hanging out with her partner and two dogs!

Rianka Macwan, 3L, President, Class of 2024, (She/Her)
Rianka is a 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She graduated from Iowa State University in 2017 with a degree in Animal Science and Political Science. During her summer after 1L, she clerked at Bonneville Power Administration in the Power and Transmission departments. She took an interest in tax law and has been at the LC Low Income Taxpayer Clinic since her 2L year. She is also currently enrolled in the Global Law Alliance Clinic at LC, working on international environmental law projects. Her background working with animals has driven her interest in international wildlife law and policy. Lily grew up in Portland and graduated with a BS in Political Science from Portland State University. Prior to law school, she worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cambodia, teaching English as a second language and helping her host-nephews to get along with their barn cats. She is interested in international environmental law, international human rights law and, especially, where those two fields coincide when it comes to climate change. Meg is a 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She graduated from Michigan State University with majors in Environmental Sciences and Management and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a concentration on world issues in politics. She participated in the Global Law Alliance during her 2L year working on projects relating to climate change, oil and gas drilling activities, and the need for environmental impact assessments. Meg is interested in working in public interest or environmental law (ideally both!). In her free time she likes crafting (cross stitch! knitting! crochet!), and hanging out with her cat.

Juliette is a 2L at Lewis & Clark Law School. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Resource Studies and a minor in Food Systems. Juliette is interested in wildlife and public lands, especially regarding agricultural communities, and has previously worked at the United States Department of Justice, the Animal Welfare Institute, and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
