Certificate Programs

Lewis & Clark Law School awards certificates to qualified JD students who concentrate their studies in a specified subject area. The links below describe the specific requirements for each certificate and the required documentation that must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office. The certificate is awarded only in conjunction with successful completion of the JD program and cannot be obtained separately.

The deadline to submit the required certification documents is October 31st for students planning to graduate in the following January and February 1st for students planning to graduate in the following May. Please note that certificates are not awarded automatically. Students must APPLY for a certificate in the timeframe noted above in order to be considered for a certificate.

To obtain a certificate, students must earn an average GPA of at least 3.00 in all courses uses to satisfy the certificate requirements. Students who earn a GPA of 3.67 or higher will receive their certificate “with distinction.”

Note that if a student elects to take a course for credit/no credit that would normally be graded, that course cannot be used towards a certificate.
