Mr. Teitel is currently “of counsel” to Dacheng Law Offices, the largest law firm in China, and based in the firm’s New York office, at 2 Wall Street. His practice at Dacheng is devoted to environmental, health & safety (“EHS”) law, with a focus on transactional due diligence. He received his BA from Rutgers College and his JD from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1973. His interest in the Law School includes the creation and continuation of the “Milton A. Pearl Environmental Law Library,” and service as a former Adjunct Professor, leading the initial development of the School’s Washington, D.C. “Student Extern Program.” Mr. Teitel previously worked as an environmental consultant with Deloitte & Touche LLP in New York’s World Financial Center. Prior to his consulting position, he focused on Superfund, environmental compliance, SEC reporting, transactional due diligence, and environmental risk assessment matters, for several Fortune 500 companies. He has been active as a speaker on environmental matters for such organizations as the ABA’s Keystone Conference, NY County Bar Association, Association of the Bar of the City of NY, the Auditing Roundtable, Government Institute, Practicing Law Institute, Environmental Law Institute, and the American Corporate Counsel Association. He served as Chair, Environmental Committee, American Corporate Counsel Assoc. (NY Region); as a member of the Board of Advisors of the Environmental Compliance Tool Kit, Thomson Publishing Co.; and Chair, Auditing Roundtable (NY Region). Publications include contributions to the BNA/ACCA Compliance Manual, Bureau of National Affairs (1993); Acquiring or Selling the Privately Held Company, Practicing Law Institute (1992); The Environmental Year Book, Executive Enterprises (1989); and The Oregon Coastal Zone Management Study (1976). Mr. Teitel was the recipient of the Auditing Roundtable’s “Extraordinary Service Award.” He is a Fellow in the Explorers Club, president of his Habitat for Humanity affiliate, and on the board of the Vermont Jazz Center.
