What three words would you use to describe L&C?

Inspiring, Compassionate, Engaged

Brief Background

I was motivated by experiences traveling, living, and teaching in the American West and by meeting and knowing lawyers doing public interest immigration and plaintiffs representation. I thought that this career would be a good way to enact change and make the world a better place.

What made you want to go to law school?

I really just wanted to be able to become an environmental litigator after being inspired by working on a pollution case as a legal assistant in Montana.

Why did you choose Lewis & Clark?

I chose L&C because the Northwest is home for me, and the advocacy-centered and environmental interest programming appealed to me.

What’s your favorite class? Why?

Crimmigration with Juliet Stumpf was my favorite class, because it is a fascinating and necessary topic.

Tell us about your involvement and leadership with the Immigration Student Group. How does this work complement your academic experience?

I’ve been the treasurer and am now a student outreach coordinator for Immigration Student Group. The program has allowed me to connect with other students who are interested in this field and taught me a lot about the advocacy work that is happening in Portland. This group gives me another place to explore my legal interests outside of environmental law.

What do you like or find most interesting about your certificate program?

I love studying environmental law, and the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Certificate pushed me to do a lot of legal writing, which is a major focus of mine.

How did your financial aid package influence your decision to attend Lewis & Clark?

I knew I wanted to be at L&C, and the financial aid made it possible.
