Kent V. Snyder is an attorney, consultant, and executive leader based in Portland, Oregon. His career spans law, sustainability, and corporate responsibility, shaping policies that promote environmental and economic resilience.
Kent founded Snyder & Associates, P.C., in 1981 specializing in bankruptcy, workouts, and corporate turnarounds. A nationally recognized expert, he served on the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute, co-edited legal publications, and was a sought-after speaker.
Since 1998, Kent has played a key role in environmental initiatives. As co-chair of the Sustainable Development Commission for Portland/Multnomah County, he helped launch Portland’s Green Building Initiative, Sustainable Procurement Strategy, Sustainable Economic Development Plan, and Climate Action Plan.
Internationally, Kent served on the Board of Councilors for the China-U.S. Center for Sustainable Development and the Board of Directors of the International Sustainable Development Foundation. He was the founding Board Chair of the highly successful Green Electronics Council, promoting environmental stewardship in electronics manufacturing.
As CEO of Community Forest Products, Kent addressed forest health and rural economic decline by developing wood products from forest restoration projects. A dedicated advocate for collaborative leadership development, he chaired the National Board of Trustees of the American Leadership Forum which fosters collaboration among diverse leaders. He remains a Senior Fellow of the Oregon Chapter of the organization.
Currently, Kent chairs the Board of Directors for The Biomimicry Institute, advancing nature-inspired solutions to global challenges. His career reflects a commitment to problem-solving at the intersection of law, sustainability, and leadership.
Kent received his BS in Environmental and Developmental Biology, cum laude, from Kansas State University and his JD from Lewis & Clark Law School, where he served as Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the law review and was inducted into the Cornelius Honor Society.
