In 2018, Anthony earned his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, followed by his Juris Doctorate from University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formally known as John Marshall Law School) in May 2021.
In November 2021, Anthony began working as a prosecutor for the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office where he now handles a multitude of animal related cases. Most recently, he tried a case which dealt with various animal welfare charges specific to dogs and chickens. This two week-long trial included experts in the fields of general humane care and habitat for chickens, chicken triage and injuries, bird types, veterinary care, veterinary orthopedics, and radiography of canines and small animals. Ultimately, the defendant was found guilty of keeping two dogs and numerous chickens in an inhumane environment. Thankfully, all the animals the defendant possessed were surrendered and are currently placed in new, loving homes.
Aside from dogs and chickens, Anthony has assisted in prosecuting crimes involving a variety of other animal-victims, including horses, sheep, cardinals, canaries, lizards, cats, deer, and racoons. As of October 2023, Anthony has prosecuted on the behalf of almost 100 different animal-victims.
Currently he is assigned to the Felony Juvenile Division, handling delinquency, truancy, and the abuse and neglect of minors. Due to his passion for helping animals, he has been specially assigned to work under Assistant State’s Attorney Alyssa Rabulinski regarding crimes against animals. Rabulinski is known for her expertise in crimes against animals and, due to her knowledge in this area of law, she was presented with the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s (“ALDF”) Top Animal Defenders Award in 2022. Together, they have drafted various search warrants on animal cruelty cases, filed and have gone to hearing on several forfeiture petitions, and successfully forfeited each animal in said hearings. In October 2023, the duo attended the ALDF’s National Animal Cruelty Prosecution Conference held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Currently, Anthony serves as the Vice Chairman of the Animal Law Section of the DuPage County Bar Association and as the Social Media Director of the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association. Anthony hopes to use this education to further his legal career and to continue to be a voice for those victims who cannot speak for themselves.
