Tracy Sullivan

Director of Student and Employer Engagement

Gantenbein 031

Born and raised in the midwest with a strong interest in social justice and conservation, Tracy went to college at Indiana University with plans to work in field sciences. During undergrad, she was inspired by the growing field of environmental law. Tracy completed her westward move to PDX to attend Lewis & Clark Law in 1997.

As a student, Tracy was very involved in the Public Interest Law Project, and competed with the Jessup Moot Court for two years. During her time at L&C, she had the opportunity to conduct research with Professor Chris Wold on issues of international environmental law. She also worked in both the private and public sector as a law clerk and studied abroad at Trinity University in Dublin, Ireland.

After graduation in 2000, Tracy served as judicial clerk to Judge Helen Frye and Magistrate Judge Ashmanskas with the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. She then moved to the Bay Area and practiced as a civil litigator until she transitioned into law school administration. Between admissions and career services, Tracy has over 13 years of experience, with over 8 years in Career Services & Professional Development.

When Tracy is not working at L&C she likes to keep busy. She runs a small business, while making time for exploring all of the special PDX neighborhoods and natural areas in the magical Pacific Northwest. You might find her with her rescue dogs, (Monk and Juno) at nearby food carts, taking a jog in the SE, or camping up on Mt. Hood or at the coast.

For students, Tracy is a primary career counselor for both private and public employment options. She works with the Career Services team to coordinate career events and programming, plan and run recruitments, conduct student & employer outreach, and create opportunities to expand knowledge of the varied opportunities within the law and the importance of cultivating a strong network.

For employers, Tracy is happy to work with employers from all sectors and in any stage of the recruitment process, and can connect interested employers with our students for information sessions and events, or through job postings, resume collects, pop-up recruitments and formal recruitment events.

For alumni, Tracy provides career advising well beyond school and is happy to connect alumni to students in networking and career exploration opportunities. We also love to bring our alumni back to campus to speak with students about their paths to practice and share their experiences.
