Lewis & Clark Law School’s dynamic Environmental Law LLM program draws lawyers from across the country, and around the world, including California-based attorney John Scott Cramer.

Cramer pursued our online LLM in Environmental, Natural Resources, and Energy Law while working full-time and graduated from the program in January 2024. His journey to pursue the LLM after retirement embodies the spirit of lifelong learning.

With a distinguished background encompassing a 26-year career in the Marine Corps and 14 years of federal government service, Cramer exemplifies resilience and adaptability. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Cramer decided to return to Lewis & Clark to pursue his passion for both science and the law through our Environmental LLM program.

He found the program professionally rewarding and worthwhile with engaging lectures and readings. “The entire program was superb. All of the professors were first class,” Cramer states while reflecting on his educational journey.

Cramer currently works as a California Appellate Panel attorney, navigating the intricate realms of Indigent Criminal Appeals, Prisoner Civil Rights, and Parole Suitability Hearings. He is a 1975 graduate of Lewis & Clark College where he studied natural sciences and a 2024 graduate of the LLM in Environmental, Natural Resources, & Energy Law.
