Alex Houston joined GEI as a staff attorney in September of 2023. Alex spent the last two years as a Legal Fellow at Earthrise Law Center working on public interest environmental litigation. He graduated summa cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2021 with a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. During law school, Alex gained experience working on a wide variety of environmental issues as a Law Clerk for both Earthrise and the Northwest Environmental Defense Center, as well as competing in the National Environmental Law Moot Court competition and serving as an Associate Editor on Environmental Law. Alex is a member of the Oregon Bar and is admitted to practice in the Federal District of Oregon and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to law school, Alex graduated from the University of Kansas (Honors College, Highest Distinction) with Majors in Environmental Studies, Political Science, and Anthropology. In his free time, Alex enjoys live music, backpacking, rock climbing, soccer, and long walks with his rescue dog, Blueberry.
