Taylor is a recipient of the Online Animal Law Advanced Degree Ambassador Award.
Taylor is currently the Pro Bono Manager at the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF). Prior to finding her place at the ALDF, Taylor was an active animal law litigator who advanced animal law in the State of Ohio. She worked to achieve some of the highest settlements in the state for veterinary medical malpractice and applied Ohio’s consumer protection laws against puppy mill brokers in the state. Taylor was a member of the ALDF’s Pro Bono Network where she was able to work to execute a judgment against notorious animal trafficker, Robert Sawmiller.
Taylor went to law school at Michigan State University College of Law where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Animal and Natural Resource Law, President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund chapter. While in law school Taylor was awarded the Wanda Nash Award for Animal Law in Michigan and the Ohio State Environmental Law Award. Her paper on the de-extinction of passenger pigeons was published in the Journal of Animal and Natural Resource Law. Taylor’s undergraduate degree from Western Washington University’s Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies examined the intersection of human and nonhuman systems of exploitation, entitled “Law, Diversity, and Justice: Animals.”
