Paula is the Legal Director at the farmed animal protection organization Mercy For Animals (MFA) in Brazil. She joined the organization five years ago and has been working on several animal protection issues such as banning cages in the egg industry and ending live export of farmed animals by sea.
She recently presented some of her work on live export at the virtual CLE hosted by the Animal Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association. In the past couple of years, she has written articles for the American Bar Association on topics like animal trafficking and animal testing. Paula is also a member of the Brazilian Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee.
Paula completed her bachelor’s degree at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo - PUC/SP. She is a specialist in Business Contracts and certified in Digital Law by the Fundação Getúlio Vargas. She was in charge of the Corporate Law area at Dannemann Siemsen Advogados in São Paulo for over three years and she is a founding partner at MVT Law firm.
She has served as a volunteer attorney in different social justice movements and strongly believes that the intersectional approach is essential for the success of the animal protection movement. She is a passionate environmentalist and advocates that the end of factory farming will come sooner than we think.
Paula is a recipient of the Animal Law Advocates Advanced Degree Scholarship and Online Animal Law Advanced Degree Ambassador Award.
