Alejandro Tosi ’04 Is a Political Affairs Officer at the United Nations, currently posted in Darfur, Sudan. In that capacity he conducts analysis on the political and security situation in Darfur, recommends courses of action in specific emergency situations affecting Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and local communities, liaises closely with national, regional, and local stakeholders, and performs other responsibilities.
Previously he served in other roles at the United Nations, including as a legal consultant to the UN’s International Organization for Migration in Geneva, Switzerland, and as a Judicial Affairs Officer in Afghanistan.
Before that he worked as a consultant for Moore Stephens International in Africa conducting legal and financial audits and micro-assessments on behalf of United Nations Agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNOPS, UNFPA) in post-conflict countries including Ivory Coast, Liberia, and The Gambia.
Alejandro has both a JD and an LLM in Environmental Law from Lewis & Clark. After concluding his studies he practiced for four years at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in Portland, before moving to Europe to work for the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal and then moving on to positions with the United Nations.
