Dan Eller ’04 is a tax and business attorney in the Portland office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt. He advises clients with both transactional and controversy matters, helping them structure their affairs in a tax-efficient manner and resolve disputes with taxing authorities. In his transactional practice he emphasizes choice of entity and formation; mergers and acquisitions; real property development transaction structuring; foreign bank account and asset reporting; and tax-exempt entity formation, qualification, and operation.
Dan maintains a high profile in his practice areas, publishing articles and speaking frequently on pending legislation and problematic issues. He regularly writes articles on various aspects of tax reform and keeps up a timely commentary on important tax issues and their implications for business development.
Dan also gives back to the various communities to which he belongs. A fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and past Chair of the Oregon State Bar Tax Section, he was the inaugural recipient of the State Bar Tax Section Pro Bono Award (2018). For his work with students at Lewis & Clark Law School he was given the Andrea Swanner Reading Outstanding Mentor Award. An avid bicyclist, Dan is a Board Member of Cycle Oregon, and he has served on the Board of the Lake Oswego School District Foundation.
Dan graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School with his JD in 2004. He went on to earn a Tax LLM from the University of Washington School of Law (2008). He earned his BA from the University of California at Los Angeles (1992) and an MS in financial analysis from Portland State (2001). Dan continues to contribute to Lewis & Clark Law School, having served over the years as President of the Alumni Board and as an Adjunct Professor in the tax curriculum.
