Jo Perini-Abbott Accepts IAALS Rebuilding Justice Award on Behalf of Oregon Task Force
The Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (IAALS) recognizes the Task Force, chaired by Perini-Abbott, for “its role in catalyzing the national conversation around licensure reform.”

Professor of Practice and Director of the Center for Advocacy Jo Perini-Abbott will accept the 2024 Rebuilding Justice Award on behalf of Oregon’s Task Force on Alternatives to the Bar. Every year, the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (IAALS) presents the Rebuilding Justice Award to recognize individuals or organizations that exemplify the spirit of innovation and leadership needed to build a legal system that is accessible, fair, reliable, and efficient.
Professor Perini-Abbott served on the Oregon Board of Bar Examiners from 2017-2023 and chaired the Alternatives to the Bar Exam Task Force and its successor, the Licensing Pathways Development Committee until she joined Lewis & Clark Law School this fall. She continues to serve on the committee and is widely recognized in Oregon and beyond as a driving force for licensure reform.
IAALS highlighted “the Task Force’s leadership, innovation, and role as an agent for system reform,” particularly “its role in catalyzing the national conversation around licensure reform.” Professor Perini-Abbott will accept the Rebuilding Justice Award on behalf of the task force at IAALS’s Rebuilding Justice Award Celebration on April 25, 2024, in Denver.
