On Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, Lewis & Clark Law School hosts the 2023 Fall Forum: Data in Business & Society, featuring scholars and practitioners involved in the intersection of law and data. The forum surveys topics like data privacy, artificial intelligence, and digital governance and explores how, where, and why data interfaces with and impacts the law.
Panelists include legal and computer science academics as well attorneys and data analysts from Google, Intel and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Panel sessions address: Data Governance and Digital Platforms; Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Algorithms, and Data-Driven Innovation; Data Protection and Privacy; and Data Applications.
Zach Williams, Director of Data Science for the Portland Trail Blazers, is the luncheon keynote speaker, presenting on Data Science in Basketball.
Professor Tabrez Ebrahim is the visionary behind this year’s forum, selecting and inviting the speakers, and the Center for Business Law & Innovation at the law school is the event sponsor. Lewis & Clark Law Review will publish many of the panelists’ papers featured at the forum in 2024.
“We are so excited to welcome scholars and participants, each of whom brings a unique perspective on how data is impacting the law, policy and our society,” said Professor Ebrahim. “I am grateful for the support of the Center for Business Law and Innovation at Lewis & Clark Law School, making this important event possible.”
