Earthrise files climate change lawsuit over Glen Canyon Dam
Yesterday Earthrise professors Tom Buchele and Jamie Saul filed a lawsuit in the federal court in Prescott, Arizona challenging a Department of Interior decision to implement a management plan for the Glen Canyon Dam that failed to properly consider the likely impacts of climate change and refused to consider an alternative that would breach the dam. Earthrise represents three plaintiff groups, Save The Colorado, Living Rivers and the Center for Biological Diversity. The original decision at issue was made during the last days of the Obama administration but the Trump administration recently failed to update the Environmental Impact Statement regarding the dam in light of even more alarming published scientific research showing the likely impacts of climate change on the Colorado River basin.
