Congratulations to Earthrise summer clerk, Julia Fraser as she begins her new litigation clerkship for Meredith Long out of Kelso, Washington. Long was impressed with Fraser’s writing abilities in her Request for Stay in a matter against Northwest Pipeline, LLC on behalf of Cowlitz County Cemetery District No. 6. Fraser worked with Earthrise attorney, Tom Buchele to develop the Request.
Meredith Long runs a private practice that focuses on disputes involving contracts, businesses, real estate, trusts and estates, and elder law issues. “I went to watch her represent our client on their other matter in Washington Superior court and I felt like we would work well together so I jumped at the chance…. While its not substantively environmental, it’s an amazing opportunity to get experience in litigation and to be mentored by a female attorney,” said Fraser.
Earthrise Law Center is located in Wood Hall on the Law Campus. MSC: 51
Earthrise Law Center is now accepting applications from current law students who will have completed their 1L year by April 2025—or anyone who has already completed more than 32 credits of course work—for its summer 2025 clerkship program.
Earthrise is looking for a smart, enthusiastic, hard-working person with a positive attitude and a desire to have a career in the public interest environmental legal field.
In 2024, Earthrise attorneys achieved significant milestones in advancing the clinic’s dual mission: safeguarding the environment and equipping the next generation of legal advocates with hands-on experience. As Earthrise approaches its 30th anniversary, we invite you to join us in supporting this essential work in a critical time for environmental protection.
