Travel Reimbursement Program for Admitted Students
We genuinely believe that visiting a law school should be an integral part of your decision-making process. To that end, we are happy to offer a travel assistance program to help defray the cost of your visit to our campus before making a decision. If you attend one of the in-person preview events in February or April, you are eligible for travel assistance up to $250. Travel assistance will be offered in the form of a reimbursement after the event, and you must meet the conditions listed below to be eligible. Please note we are unable to reimburse you at the event or on the day of your visit.
How to Qualify
All conditions must be met for the $250 Travel Reimbursement.
- You must attend either Preview Day February 17 or Preview Weekend April 5 and 6. Attendance at the receptions during those events is optional, but you must attend the on-campus activities on either February 17 or April 6.
- You must be visiting from 125 miles or more from our law school address, as calculated by Google maps.
- If you travel by air, you must fly into Portland International Airport (PDX).
- You can use the funding for up to 2 nights lodging in the Portland area.
- Each admitted student is only eligible for one travel reimbursement no matter how many preview events you attend.
How to Get Reimbursed After Your Visit
After your visit, we will email you the necessary travel reimbursement forms. You must complete the forms, attach all original receipts showing a paid charge, and email us your documentation by May 10 to lawadmss@lclark.edu. Absent extraordinary circumstances, we are unable to extend this deadline. Please note that submitting flight itineraries and hotel itemizations without receipts showing a paid charge will not suffice for our business office and may delay your reimbursement.
Examples of reimbursable expenses: transportation (airfare, train, or bus ticket; car rental; mileage on your personal car; taxi fare; public transit; parking, etc.) and lodging in the Portland area for two nights (hotel, Airbnb, etc.)
Examples of non-reimbursable expenses: travel expenses incurred by a spouse, friend, or family member; in-room movies, phone calls, or room service at hotels; meals
