Endowed Giving

 

Endowed funds are a true donor legacy gift, often named in honor of the donor or loved one. Unlike other gifts, which are expended for short-term needs, gifts for an endowment are invested and the principal is held in perpetuity. As the principal investment grows, the interest earned provides a constant source of income over time, enabling long term planning and providing funds which the Law School can depend on for student scholarships and faculty support. Endowed funds are typically dedicated to particular purposes, consistent with donor desires, such as faculty chairs and professorships, student endowed scholarships, or gifts to the library.

Endowed Student Scholarships

Endowed named scholarships offer pathways to students who would not otherwise be able to attend law school. Not only does a scholarship provide financial relief, it also sends a vote of confidence to its recipient. Both student and donor benefit. Donors witness their direct and immediate impact on a future leader. Students see that others believe in their worth and are willing to make a material contribution to their success.  Scholarships attract and retain gifted students who add to the richness and diversity of our student body.

Scholarships can be made in your name or in honor of someone who has made a difference in your life.  Many of our alumni have established a named scholarship as a bequest. Donors have the opportunity to help design selection criteria for the scholarship recipients.

Endowed Chair, Professorship, Faculty Scholar Opportunities

Supporting the law school faculty through an endowed chair, professorship, or faculty scholar position provides a transformational impact for generations. There are opportunities to name a faculty chair in honor of a favorite professor or family member. Endowed professorship and faculty scholar positions honor distinguished individuals, celebrate collective intellectual rigor, stimulate learning between scholars and students, and advance interdisciplinary teaching and research.

Giving to Existing Endowment Funds

You can add to the Law School’s endowment by making a gift to an existing endowed scholarship or professorship. Click here to browse our list of endowed, donor-supported scholarships

To add to an endowed scholarship: 

1. Click: make a gift.
2. Select “other” under “My Gift Should Benefit.” 
3. Write in the name of the scholarship in the “other” box, or give a name to the new scholarship you would like to create.
