  • Description: This course centers around the National Native American Law Student Association (NNALSA) Moot Court competition. Through the preparation and participation in this competition, students develop proficiency in brief writing and oral advocacy. In addition, students are introduced to the field of Indigenous Peoples law and policy. During the fall semester, students prepare practice briefs based on prior competition problems. Once NNALSA issues the official Moot Court problem, students work in two-person teams to prepare a brief. In the spring, the teams practice oral advocacy with guest judges. Students are chosen to represent the school in the national contest held early spring semester. The competition is an excellent way for students to improve their brief writing, oral advocacy, and network with practitioners in the field.
