Moot Court: Appellate Advocacy Regional Team

Each year, Lewis & Clark Law School selects up to six upper-division students to represent the school at the Regional Moot Court Competition in November. Preparation for the regional competition involves writing a substantive brief based on a problem generated by the competition’s organizers, the New York City Bar, and participation in at least 10 oral argument practice rounds in front of local appellate lawyers and judges. The top two teams in the regional competition advance to the national finals in February in New York City. Only students with strong oral-advocacy and legal-writing skills will be selected. Incoming 2Ls are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated written and oral advocacy skills.

If you are interested in being considered for the class, please e-mail the Registrar’s Office at lawreg@lclark.edu to submit your name, e-mail address, telephone number, transcript, resume, and a brief writing sample. If you have participated in another moot court, writing competition, or done any specialized coursework in legal writing or appellate advocacy, please also include that information in the email. The instructor will contact select students and may request additional information before deciding whether to invite those students to participate. When the Moot Court Advocacy Regional enrollment has reached the limit, students who have requested admission will be notified that the class is closed.”
