Note: This course will be held at the Multnomah County Courthouse. Classes are scheduled to begin at 5:30pm, however students need to be in the courthouse by 5:20pm to go through security.
Description: This class is for students interested in civil trial work. It builds on what students learn in IETA. Students will go deeper into trial skills for civil trials including learning to conduct voir dire, build case themes and theories that resonate in civil trials, conduct direct and cross examinations of plaintiffs and defendants, and tell persuasive stories in opening and closing. The course is taught by a current Multnomah County judge and a retired civil attorney. All classes are held at the Multnomah County Courthouse.
Prerequisite: Integrated Evidence & Pretrial Advocacy or Moot Court: Mock Trial
Evaluation Method: Weekly exercises and a final trial.

The American Bar Association accreditation standards require students to regularly attend the courses in which they are registered. Lewis & Clark expects students to attend classes regularly and to prepare for classes conscientiously. Specific attendance requirements may vary from course to course. Sanctions (e.g., required withdrawal from the course, grade adjustment, and/or a failing grade) will be imposed for poor attendance.
