  • Description: This course covers the main aspects of U.S. patent law. It explores the policy arguments for and against using patents as a mechanism for inducing technological innovation. The course will cover the central patentability criteria, including subject matter, novelty, nonobviousness, and adequate disclosure. We will also cover the scope of patent claims, ‎infringement, and remedies. Other important topics will include recent developments in patent law, including recent Supreme Court cases, the America Invents Act, and newly developed invalidity proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
