Description: This course will take students through a simulated case from client interview through initial pleadings, discovery, and summary judgment. Students will be divided into plaintiff and defense teams and litigate the case at the direction of practicing lawyers acting as “senior partners” in addition to receiving full-group instruction on the various aspects of pre-trial litigation. Students must use pleadings, discovery, and client interviewing/investigation to build a fact record through the course of simulation to eventually obtain or defeat summary judgment.

By the completion of this course, students will have foundational skills in client interviewing and counseling, drafting pleadings, drafting and responding to discovery, taking and defending depositions, and drafting and arguing summary judgment motions.
