- Description: This is an introductory course in debtor/creditor law taught by a pair of adjunct professors with over 40 years of combined experience in this area. The course includes an overview of the general principles and forms of relief offered by the federal Bankruptcy Code and discusses the options available to, and strategies employed by, debtors and creditors.
This class is a foundation for students interested in this area of law. It is also intended to help students understand the bankruptcy issues that non-bankruptcy attorneys must know - particularly during economic downturns.

The American Bar Association accreditation standards require students to regularly attend the courses in which they are registered. Lewis & Clark expects students to attend classes regularly and to prepare for classes conscientiously. Specific attendance requirements may vary from course to course. Any attendance guidelines for a given class must be provided to students in a syllabus or other written document at the start of the semester. Sanctions (e.g., required withdrawal from the course, grade adjustment, and/or a failing grade) will be imposed for poor attendance.
