Administrative Law - Professor Lisa Benjamin

  • Description: Administrative law is the law relating to administrative agencies. It includes constitutional law (especially separation of powers and procedural due process), federal statutory law (especially the Administrative Procedure Act), and state statutory law. The validity of government agencies’ actions depends on compliance with administrative law. Thus, lawyers for agencies, regulated industries, and public interest groups are vitally concerned with administrative law. This course focuses on federal administrative law, helping students develop a practical understanding of administrative law, using quizzes and regular written discussion questions.

  • Evaluation Method: Evaluation will be based on a combination of quizzes taken throughout the semester, class participation, answers to written discussion questions, and a final exam. Students should be prepared to complete and submit work throughout the semester.
