Pro Bono Program
The Pro Bono Program matches local volunteer attorneys with clients who need transactional assistance in the area of the attorneys’ expertise, and is supported by donations from law firms and individuals.
Clients pay a small administrative fee. The SBLC sets up the first meeting between the volunteer attorney and the client. If they decide to work together, the client and the attorney work on up to one matter at a time. For additional help through the Pro Bono Program, clients reach out to the SBLC through email or fill out another intake form if we haven’t worked with them in the last six months. After a client’s matter has been completed by the volunteer attorney, clients may be added to the waitlist again. Most volunteer attorneys spend about 10 hours on their client’s project, although this depends on the client’s project and the attorney’s experience.
The volunteer attorney is eligible for one Oregon CLE credit for every 2 qualifying hours served. See the Oregon State Bar Pro Bono Program.
The Small Business Legal Clinic has a waitlist of clients to meet with a volunteer attorney.
