The National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC), founded in 1985, is a resource and advocacy organization for crime victims. NCVC’s mission is to forge a national commitment to help victims of crime rebuild their lives. NCVC’s website contains numerous resources and links, including to some of its projects such as the Stalking Resource Center.

NCVC has created VictimLaw, a comprehensive, user-friendly, on-line database of victims’ rights statutes, tribal laws, constitutional amendments, court rules, administrative code provisions, and case summaries of related court decisions that meets the needs of a wide variety of users with different levels of substantive and technological expertise.

National Disability Rights Network

NDRN is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP). There is a P&A/CAP agency in every state and U.S. territory as well as one serving the Native American population in the four corners region. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.

Office for Victims of Crime

The Office for Victims of Crime website provides a comprehensive database designed to help individuals locate non-emergency crime victim service agencies in the United States and abroad. Searchable by location, type of victimization, agency type and/or type of service needed, this resource is available for victims to guide their search for support.

VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday)

This service allows crime victims to obtain timely and reliable information about criminal cases and the custody status of offenders 24 hours a day. Victims and other concerned citizens can also register to be notified by phone, email or TTY device when an offender’s custody status changes.

History of the Crime Victim Assistance Field

The Victim Oral History Project seeks to capture the evolution of one of the nation’s most significant social rights movements–the Victims’ Rights Movement. This website contains audio and video file interviews with many pioneers of the movement and documents the history of the Victims’ Rights Movement.

National Crime Victim Law Institute (NCVLI)

NCVLI works to ensure that victims of crime are informed of their rights and can find resources to enforce their rights. We provide general information on our website about the rights of crime victims and also provide referral information to other agencies that may be able to provide direct assistance.

The Office Of Victims’ Rights is an agency of the Alaska Legislature that provides free legal services to victims of crime to help them obtain the rights they are guaranteed under the Alaska constitution and statutes with regard to their contacts with police, prosecutors, judges, and other criminal justice agencies in this state, as well as to advance and protect those victim rights in court when necessary and authorized by law.

Arizona Attorney General Victim Services

The Arizona Attorney General’s Victims’ Rights Program has information about the rights of crime victims in Arizona. The office can also refer victims to various services and operates a victim compensation program.

Arizona Department of Public Safety

The mission of the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Crime Victim Services Unit is to effectively administer Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Assistance funds by ensuring appropriate and accessible services are available to crime victims.

California Attorney General Victims’ Services Unit (VSU)

The California Attorney General’s VSU provides information about the rights of crime victims in California.

Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE)

Since 2006, the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE) has existed to end sexual exploitation in this community, and since 2009, CAASE has done its work by providing free and comprehensive legal services for survivors of sexual violation - including by representing those victimized through rape or in the context of the sex trade, within the context of the criminal justice system. The other pillars of CAASE’s work - Policy, Prevention, and Community Engagement - have a decade’s history working to improve policy, practice, and culture (both at the state and local level) so that various systems, including specifically the criminal justice system, improve the ways they understand, engage with, and respond to victims of rape and prostitution.

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles

Since 1929, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles has provided civil legal services to poor and low-income people in Los Angeles County.

Legal Aid Services of Oregon

Legal Aid Services of Oregon is a nonprofit organization that provides representation on civil cases to low-income clients throughout Oregon. Legal Aid Services of Oregon has field offices located in Albany, Bend, Klamath Falls, Newport, Pendleton, Portland, Roseburg, and Salem. Offices in Woodburn, Hillsboro and Pendleton serve Farmworker clients statewide. The Native American Program provides representation on Native American issues. The Central Administrative office for the program is located in Portland.

The North Carolina Victim Assistance Network (NCVAN) promotes the rights and needs of crime victims by linking victims of crime with direct assistance available in their communities and providing information on specific laws and legislation pertaining to victim’s rights. As a statewide network, NCVAN provides information on over 1,500 victim service and criminal justice agencies, victim assistance programs, and advocacy groups.

The Ohio Crime Victim Justice Center provides free legal assistance to victims of crime to protect and enforce their rights from the time of first report through post release control. Free legal representation is also provided in state and federal court. In addition this program provides free victims rights training to nurses, advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, counselors, and community organizations, and resource referrals throughout Ohio.

The Alaska Institute for Justice (formerly Alaska Immigration Justice Project) is a nonprofit agency that provides low-cost immigration legal assistance to immigrants and refugees in all immigration applications including citizenship, permanent resident status, work permits, asylum, family-based petitions and immigration petitions for immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

Alaska Victim-Witness Assistance Program

Alaska’s Department of Law provides a Victim-Witness Assistance Program for victims whose cases are being prosecuted. A coordinator can provide services such as help with employers and travel arrangements, advocacy and information about the criminal justice process, and work with police and other services to stop abuse and harassment.

Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS)

Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS) began serving victims of crime under Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding from the Florida Attorney General’s Office on June 2018, although trauma-informed services have been provided since it opened its doors in 1974. LAS serves survivors of all
non-intimate partner crimes such as, adult or child sexual assault, bullying, identity theft, fraud, human trafficking, child victims of abuse, abandonment, or neglect, survivors of mass violence, etc.

NVRDC runs the District’s on-call crisis response services to survivors of sexual assault who receive a sexual assault forensic exam in the District of Columbia.
