Nominalizations
(1) What do NOMINALIZATIONS look like?

(2) Why are NOMINALIZATIONS problematic?
A nominalization is the use of a noun in place of a verb. Nominalizations create wordiness and weaken the energy of a sentence. Precise and tight writing avoids nominalizations. If you are facing a tight word/page limit for your writing project, eliminating nominalizations is crucial!
