Distance Education NOTICE
Our online Summer Program classes are available to Lewis & Clark students and Visiting Students, but it is the responsibility of the student to confirm with their home institutions to ensure the distance education credits are transferable. Lewis & Clark law students should review the school’s policy on distance education credits.
Lewis & Clark has been approved by the State of Oregon to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. Financial aid is available for our Animal Law Summer Program. Students should apply for aid as early as possible in the spring semester. Special rules apply to the distribution of summer school aid. Visiting Students
A visiting student is a student who needs a transcript of their work in order to receive credit at another educational institution. Visiting students are responsible for checking with their home schools to ensure all credits are transferable, and to understand the specific rules regarding the transfer of credits. Lewis & Clark is an ABA-accredited law school; the summer courses are eligible for transfer back to law schools or international schools depending on the rules and policies of the school accepting the credits for transfer.
To register as a Visiting Student, please see our Registrar’s Summer 2024 Registration page, and scroll down to Visiting Students, for the most up-to-date information.
Auditing Students
An auditing student is someone who is not transferring course credit back to their home educational institution. Auditors may receive continuing education credits, however those will need to be arranged directly by the auditor. Prior to registration, please read the Registrar’s website for auditing students.
Important notes for auditing students:
- Auditors are not eligible to receive Federal financial aid.
- Auditors do not receive a transcript and cannot apply or transfer these credits to Lewis & Clark Law School.
Auditing students may choose from two options:
If an auditor registers to take an Animal Law Summer Program class as an Auditor with a Certificate, that auditor, upon passing the class, will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Lewis & Clark Law School Registrar’s Office. Please note, however, that once the Certificate of Completion has been sent by the Registrar’s Office no record will be kept by Lewis & Clark Law School of any auditors who take any Animal Law Summer Program classes.
In order to receive a Certificate of Completion, an auditor must:
- Register as an Auditor with a Certificate;
- Complete all course work, including the final exam, and PASS the class (C grade or better).
An Auditor with a Certificate will be graded alongside the other registered students and will receive a pass/fail grade. If the Auditor with a Certificate passes the course, they will earn a Certificate of Completion from the Lewis & Clark Law School Registrar’s Office.
Availability is limited for Certificate students and based on the number of remaining seats after for-credit students have registered.
Lewis & Clark alumni, government employees, and nonprofit employees receive a 50% tuition discount. Government and Nonprofit employees will need to supply proof of employment to receive this discount.
If an auditor registers to take an Animal Law Summer Program class as an Auditor without a Certificate (Auditor) that Auditor may participate in the class without needing to complete the coursework or take the final exam. The Auditor may still submit any class hours attended to their home state for CLE credit, but the Auditor will not receive any certificate from the Lewis & Clark Law School Registrar’s Office stating participation in, or completion of, the class.
Availability is limited for auditing students and based on the number of remaining seats after for-credit students have registered.
To register as an auditing student, please complete the Auditing Student Application.
